Statement Sense
Every bank line, read, matched and explained
Statement Sense reads your bank and credit-card statements line by line, matches each line to its bill, and drafts the entry — ledger, party, GST and TDS — for you to approve.
What it reads
- Bank statements: PDF (including password-protected), CSV, Excel.
- Credit-card statements, including EMI conversions, fees and GST on fees.
- Bank alert emails (via Inbox-to-Ledger) — so a payment shows up before the statement does.
- Tested formats today: HDFC Bank statements and ICICI Bank credit-card statements; other Indian banks via CSV/Excel export.
What it does with each line
- Reads the date, narration, amount, balance and reference.
- Classifies the line: vendor payment, salary, GST payment, bank charge, transfer between your own accounts, card bill, EMI, refund.
- Matches it to a bill, invoice or receipt from your inbox or uploads.
- Attributes it to the right company — useful when one founder's card pays for several companies.
- Drafts the entry and shows its reasoning and evidence.
- Waits for your approval in One-Tap Decisions.
The hard cases it handles
- Card fees with 18% GST on the fee, split into the right ledgers.
- EMI conversions shown as one line on the statement but many instalments.
- Transfers between your own accounts that must not become income or expense.
- One payment covering several bills, or one bill paid in parts.
Why this beats copying rows into Tally
Copying rows gives you a list. Statement Sense gives you an entry with its proof: the bill, the bank line and the reason, linked forever. When your CA asks "what was this ₹1,09,740?", the answer is one click away.
Questions
Does it connect to my bank directly?
Not today. You upload statements or connect your inbox for bank alerts. That keeps access read-only and avoids sharing bank logins.
What if a line has no bill?
It goes to Close Radar as "missing bill", with the vendor name and amount, so you or your accountant can request it.
Can I review before anything is posted?
Always. Every entry stays a draft until a person approves it.
